Tornado causes rice fields to collapse, many houses have their roofs blown off

The storm lasted only about 15 minutes, heavy rain and strong winds appeared in many localities in Thanh Chuong and Nam Dan, causing heavy property damage to the people.

The wind swept through some houses, damaging the roofs, removing tiles and blowing away corrugated iron roofs. The house of Thai Thi Duyen in Vo Liet commune, Thanh Chuong district was struck by lightning, and many tiles on the roof were blown off by the wind. Similarly, the house of Nguyen Van Dong in Vo Liet commune also had a corrugated iron roof measuring 10m long and 6m wide blown down to the garden of the house next door.

The heaviest damage was that many areas of green and ready-to-harvest winter-spring rice of people in Thanh Chuong and Nam Dan districts... collapsed onto the fields, affecting productivity and output, making harvesting difficult.

Mr. Le Xuan Tan in Nam Xuan commune, Nam Dan district said: Although the storm was short, it caused many rice fields in the locality to collapse, which was very heartbreaking to see.
