Tornadoes in Nam Dan district caused damage to many houses, with roofs being blown off.
The tornado, which lasted less than a minute, ripped off the roofs of 15 houses and livestock sheds, and knocked down dozens of meters of fences and trees.
On the morning of July 16th, a storm struck Nam Anh commune, Nam Dan district. The storm lasted less than a minute, sweeping through Hamlet 8, Nam Anh commune, affecting 11 households; 15 houses and livestock sheds had their roofs blown off; 30 meters of fence walls belonging to several households collapsed, along with many trees being uprooted...
The tornado only swept through a small area in Hamlet 8; neighboring hamlets in Nam Anh commune were unaffected.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tinh, head of Hamlet 8, said: "Eleven households were directly affected, but the most severely affected were those of Ho Viet Dao, Nguyen Anh Tuyen, Ngo Quang Nam, Ho Viet Canh, and Ho Viet Khanh. Among them, Mr. Tuyen's household had the roofs of 3 houses blown off, and Mr. Nam's household had 4 houses affected."
Mr. Ngo Quang Mao's house had all its roof tiles blown off by the tornado, and the homeowner passed away about a week ago.
Immediately after the storm, despite the rain, local people actively worked to mitigate the damage, helping each other transport roof tiles, repair roofs, and coordinate efforts to cut down trees and clean up village roads and alleys.
The Front Committee of Hamlet 8, as well as the Fatherland Front Committee of Nam Anh Commune, promptly visited and encouraged the affected families, provided labor assistance, and called on the people to unite and work together to overcome the natural disaster.
