Victim's account of crossbow shooting incident

(Baonghean.vn)- On her way home from work, Ms. Van met a young man holding a crossbow and asked 'do you want to die'. Before she could regain her composure, she was shot straight at by an arrow.

Late in the afternoon of May 5, despite the doctors removing the arrow, giving first aid and treating the wound, Ms. Lo Thi Van (born in 1989), residing in Huu Van village, Chau Kim commune, Que Phong district, was still in shock. She was the most serious victim of the three people shot by a young man with a crossbow at noon that same day.

“I had just come home from work (Ms. Van is a cook at Muong Noc Kindergarten) and had gone about 1km when someone pointed a crossbow at me and shouted loudly: “Do you want to die, girl? I will shoot you.”

As soon as she heard that, she had not yet recovered when she felt a sharp pain in her back. Looking back, she saw that the arrow was stuck in her hip. She was then taken to the hospital, the arrow was removed, and the wound was bandaged.

Mr. Lo Van Ky (born in 1999), residing in Dai village, Que Son commune (Que Phong), was one of the three people shot in the incident. He recounted: “I had just finished eating and was riding my motorbike to town to buy some things. Just as I was passing the intersection, I saw a man about 30 years old standing about 1.5 meters away from me, holding a crossbow towards me and asking, “Do you want to die?”

Before I could react, he shot me. I was so scared that I ran to my brother's house in town to tell him to call the police. When the police arrived and the people restrained him, the crossbow-wielding attacker ran away. He ran about 1km before he was arrested.

Authorities identified the crossbow shooter as Phan Van Viet (born 1989), residing in Hamlet 2, Que Son Commune (Que Phong). He has been a drug addict for many years.

Currently, the health of all 3 victims is stable. Viet is being detained by the police.

Previously, as reported by Nghe An Newspaper, at around 12 noon on May 5, a young man named Phan Van Viet (born in 1989), residing in Hamlet 2, Que Son Commune (Que Phong) used a crossbow to shoot at 3 people participating in traffic at the intersection of Kim Son Town, Que Phong District. The incident caused panic among the people.
