According to Apple Daily, Taiwanese police on March 23 arrested two men suspected of murdering Vietnamese businesswoman Ha Thuy Linh, also known as Ha Linh.

Investigators said that through business, suspect Hoang Thanh Tai (63 years old) met Ms. Ha Linh (46 years old). After that, the two sides had a debt dispute.

Tai confessed: Ha Linh owed him 4 million NT dollars. In September 2015, Tai invited his accomplice Tran Tuan Chung (42 years old), then made an appointment with Ha Linh to go to Dong Hoan (Guangdong) to negotiate.

Tai and Chung hired a taxi to pick up Ha Linh at the airport. Surveillance cameras at the airport also recorded images of Hoang Thanh Tai with Ha Linh. On the way, the suspects gave the victim a bottle of water containing sedatives, then drove her to a deserted mountain area, took off her underwear, and left the businesswoman there.

However, the next day, Ha Linh woke up and called for help from those around her. Chinese police said they had received reports from the public about a Vietnamese woman in an unconscious state, saying she had been drugged and robbed of all her belongings. The police took the victim in for questioning.

According to the businesswoman's statement to the Chinese police, her ex-husband (whose surname is Lam) knew Hoang Thanh Tai. Tai asked her to go to Dong Hoan to discuss the tea leaf business. After she got in the car, he gave her a drink labeled "blood tonic". After drinking this drink, she fell asleep.

The next day, Ha Linh woke up and found herself abandoned in a deserted forest area. The victim discovered that not only had her underwear been stolen, but her lower body was also sore. In addition, the 5 million VND she was carrying was also stolen.

The Chinese police then examined the victim’s body but did not find any other person’s semen. After taking her statement, they allowed Ha Linh to return to the hotel to rest. Unexpectedly, that evening, Ha Linh felt unwell and was taken to the hospital for emergency treatment. Two days later, the victim passed away.

The process of the Ha Linh business case

Chinese police conducted an autopsy and discovered that Ha Linh had the sedative Zolpidem (Stilnox) in her body, so they suspected that she had been murdered. Through cooperation with Vietnamese and Taiwanese police, the two suspects were caught in Changhua, Taiwan. However, both Tai and Chung denied their crimes.

The two suspects stated that on the day of the incident, on the way, Ms. Ha Linh wanted to visit a factory elsewhere. The two suspects spent about 4,000 NTD to hire a taxi to take her there, so they did not know what happened next.

However, the Chinese police found the driver of the car that carried Ha Linh. The driver admitted that he had picked up the two suspects that day and then drove them to the airport to pick up Ha Linh. He also saw Ha Linh fall asleep after drinking water given to him by the two suspects. Halfway there, Tai paid the driver 800 yuan, rented his car, and drove Ha Linh away.
