On the evening of October 17, the Department of Investigation Police on Social Order Crimes (Criminal Department - C45), Ministry of Public Security, announced that it had coordinated with the police of Hau Giang and Ben Tre provinces and professional units of the Ministry of Public Security to urgently arrest 6 suspects related to the attack on the car of a business director, then burned the car, causing one death and two injuries on the night of October 4 in Vi Thanh district, Hau Giang province.

The 6 suspects arrested, according to the announcement of C45, include: Tran Kieu Trang (46 years old, residing in District 6, Ho Chi Minh City), Cai Van Chung (35 years old, from Xuyen Moc District, Ba Ria Vung Tau - Mr. Ri's driver), Nguyen Quoc Huy (34 years old), Nguyen Thi The (56 years old), Pham Thanh Toan (46 years old), and Nguyen Huu Loc (24 years old, all from Ben Tre).

Source ofPVsaid: the initial statements of the relevant subjects are still relatively fragmentary, however, through professional measures and collected documents, the investigation agency has clearly identified the nature of the case and some important contents.

Accordingly, due to internal family conflicts, not satisfied with her father having feelings for, giving the right to manage, use and decide on property to another woman, Trang had the idea of "dealing with" the person Trang thought had appropriated many things that should have belonged to Trang and Trang's family.

After finding out, Trang approached Cai Van Chung - her father's personal driver - to publicly announce her intention to find someone to "deal with" Ms. Vo Thi Chien.

Chung agreed to help Trang, actively searching for subjects to hire this group to carry out Trang's request. At the same time, Chung also acted as an "insider" to fully inform Trang and the hired subjects about the route and opportunity to attack Ms. Chien.

To carry out this plan, Chung contacted The and Toan - two people with bad records that Chung knew - to set a price, asking The and Toan's group to "deal with" Ms. Chien.

According to initial statements, Trang and Chung only asked The and Toan groups to "deal with" Ms. Chien and how to do it to ensure that they would not be prosecuted by law.

The subjects discussed creating a robbery scene to mislead the investigation agency. The and Toan were responsible for organizing the implementation, assigning roles and positions to each person, while Trang and Chung were not concerned with the details.

Cold Hand

The source said that the initial investigation determined that the two people who directly carried out the cold and most terrifying attack were Huy and Loc.

Specifically, according to each subject's testimony, The and Toan were the two people who contacted Chung directly by phone to know the location, direction, and route the victim took. The and Toan went ahead, following the 7-seat car driven by Chung carrying Mr. Ri and Ms. Chien.

During the move, Chung would text The and Toan to let them know the location. Toan and The directed Huy and Loc to ride a motorbike from Ben Tre to follow them towards Can Tho, and attack them when they reached Vi Thanh district.

The source said Loc confessed to riding a motorbike with Huy from Ben Tre to Can Tho. Huy informed and discussed with Loc about a "contract" to kill Ms. Chien for 80-100 million VND, Loc agreed with Huy that he would do it himself.

Huy drove Loc near the crime scene, where The and Toan were waiting, signaling and then running forward, approaching the car and asking the driver to stop.

Driver Chung "acted" as if he was attacked by robbers and tried to turn the car around and run away. However, as soon as he was able to turn the car around, The, Toan and Huy's cars approached and forced Chung to stop. Huy rushed forward and opened the car door, forcing the driver out of the car, while Loc opened the back door and stabbed Ms. Chien repeatedly in the stomach and thigh.

While stabbing Ms. Chien, everything happened so quickly that the subjects did not have time to take Ms. Chien's handbag containing money and property to create a fake scene of a planned robbery.

When things were still unclear, Huy poured gasoline into the car, shot his "inside man" Cai Van Chung, then set it on fire, causing the two victims in the car to suffer severe burns, while Chung suffered less severe burns.

After committing the crime, Loc took the motorbike and fled, with Huy sitting behind. After fleeing the scene for a short distance, both fell off their bikes. Huy then replaced Loc in driving the motorbike and went into hiding in Ben Tre until he was arrested.

Initial statements indicate that Loc and Huy did not know that Mr. Ri was behind Ms. Chien. The investigation agency is continuing to clarify who planned the details and why Huy brought gasoline to burn the victim because this was not in the original plan.

The leaders of the General Department of Police and Department C45 decided to establish a special investigation project with the participation of the leaders of the General Department of Police, leaders of C45, professional units of the Ministry of Public Security and police of many related provinces and cities.

According to the source, the relationship between each victim was gradually eliminated, and finally, one suspicious clue remained, which was the conflict between Ms. Chien and Mr. Ri's family. Through professional measures, the joint force led by C45 identified the important clue, driver Chung, who showed many suspicious signs of close and continuous contact with the group of suspects in Ben Tre.

During the investigation, Chung said he was pepper sprayed, but in reality, the scene determined that there was no pepper spray. Combined with many suspicious signs and verification results, Chung finally confessed the entire incident.
