Horrifying testimony of the man who killed his wife and hid her body in the septic tank
Hoang said the reason he turned himself in 5 years later was because at the time his wife died, his children were still young, so he felt sorry for them and wanted to stay and take care of them until they grew up.
On May 12, the Investigation Police Agency of Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province (BR-VT) conducted a crime scene investigation and excavated the septic tank at the house of suspect Nguyen Trung Hoang (38 years old, residing in Hoa Hoi quarter, Dat Do town, Dat Do district) to find the body of Hoang's wife.
During the search, the authorities discovered a human skeleton in the septic tank, a Thai knife 29cm long, 5cm widest point, an iron sickle, a shower head, men's pants, a set of clothes and a women's jacket.
The human skeleton was completely decomposed; the skull was broken into many pieces, showing signs of being chopped; the left arm bone had a slash mark, but was not severed. After the search, the authorities conducted an autopsy and confiscated specimens for DNA testing.

At the investigation agency, Hoang confessed that about 4-5 years ago, both husband and wife worked as bricklayers. Because he saw his wife having an affair with another man who was also a bricklayer, the couple got into an argument. Ms. Thuan used a stick to hit Hoang, Hoang grabbed a stick and hit Ms. Thuan on the head, causing her to faint.
When he knew his wife had stopped breathing, Hoang immediately used a sickle to cut the body into pieces, then threw each part down the toilet. Hoang also threw the bloody clothes and the sickle down below.
To avoid being discovered, Hoang did not attend his mother's death anniversary and told his mother's family that his wife had run off with someone else.
Hoang said the reason he didn’t turn himself in until 5 years later was because his children were still young when his wife died, so he wanted to stay and take care of his older children. Hoang burst into tears when talking about his children and hoped to be given leniency so he could return to them soon.
Previously, on March 14, Ms. Phan Thi Minh (victim's sister) went to the Dat Do District Police Department to report and request verification of her missing sister, suspected of being murdered.
The Dat Do District Police Department conducted an investigation and summoned Nguyen Trung Hoang to take his statement. On May 10, Hoang confessed to killing his wife and then disposing of her body.
