On the other side of the front line, Borussia Dortmund also only fielded mostly young players or players who have not been used recently. The most notable face of the team from Germany is the center back and captain Mats Hummels.
As predicted by fans, the match was open right after the opening whistle of the Malaysian referee - Muhammad Bin Nasaruddin. The two teams traded blows with a series of opportunities created towards the goal of Nguyen Van Toan and Meyer-Schade.
In the 13th minute, the efforts of the away team players finally brought the opening goal of striker Donyell Malen, a player who played for the Netherlands team at EURO 2020. However, this loss did not affect the fighting spirit of Que Ngoc Hai and his teammates much.

In the following minutes, coach Park Hang-seo's students gradually regained control of the game and organized many dangerous moves towards the opponent's goal. One of them was realized by Donyell Malen's equalizer in the 36th minute.
From Nguyen Phong Hong Duy's shot, goalkeeper Meyer-Schade let the ball bounce right to the position that Nguyen Tien Linh had chosen. In a favorable position, the player from Becamex Binh Duong made no mistake to put his name on the scoreboard.
With the equalizer, the fighting spirit of the Vietnamese players rose even higher. Before the end of the first half, Nguyen Tien Linh almost completed his double, if goalkeeper Meyer-Schade had not made an excellent save.
After the break, both the Vietnamese team and Borussia Dortmund made substitutions. However, the pace of the match did not slow down. And similar to the first half, Borussia Dortmund were the ones who dominated the game with rhythmic and fast-paced attacks.
However, under the command of captain Que Ngoc Hai, the Vietnamese team's defense successfully neutralized the attacks of the yellow team. The most dangerous situation for Borussia Dortmund was the shot that hit the post by striker Ole Pohlmann in the 60th minute.
The Vietnamese team's attack was not to be outdone by the missed opportunities of the substitute striker duo Nguyen Van Toan and Ha Duc Chinh. If the two players had defeated goalkeeper Meyer-Dchade in a one-on-one situation, the Vietnamese team would have had an early lead.
It was thought that the match would end with a score of 1-1, but then a surprise happened. In the 87th minute, a foul by Borussia Dortmund defender Soumaila Coulibaly helped the Vietnamese team get a penalty kick. On the 11m mark, striker Pham Tuan Hai defeated goalkeeper Meyer-Schade to seal the score of 2-1 for coach Park Hang-seo's team./.
