“In my life, I have always said this apology. Let me send my sincere thanks to the panel of judges for conducting the public trial. My thanks to the panel of judges for conducting the trial very democratically, ensuring the rights and interests of the defendants in the trial during the questioning, debate and confrontation. This activity demonstrates the strictness of the law, the superiority but also shows the humanity to ensure the nature of the case until today”.
Defendant Nguyen Van Duong:“The greatest lesson of my life”
In his final statement, defendant Duong said: The prosecutors of the People's Procuracy proposed a total sentence for me, which is the highest penalty in the case, which is somewhat harsh on me. However, I am extremely remorseful for the actions that have caused serious consequences, affected the police force, and lost my own opportunities. This is the biggest lesson in my life about the need to understand the law and obey the law in any circumstance.
Defendant Nguyen Van Duong: "The biggest lesson of my life". |
As the head of CNC, I accept responsibility for having implicated all employees in the company; I would like to take responsibility for the employees and ask the People's Court not to sentence CNC employees to prison so that they can return to their families and continue working; I would like the People's Court to consider the maximum form of mitigation that the lawyers have proposed so that I can enjoy leniency under the law.
With the fair verdict, I am at ease in reforming and will not exercise my right to appeal. I hope the panel of judges will consider my situation: my parents have passed away, my wife is raising 4 children alone; I hope the panel of judges will give me a chance to return soon; I apologize to the police force, my family, friends, colleagues and the defendants in the case."
Defendant Phan Sao Nam: Thank you for stopping to see life as more meaningful
The defendant said: More than a year has passed since the time of detention, until now the defendant has fully realized the mistakes and crimes he has committed; has seen more positive aspects of life; the encouragement and care of his family and society..., and has become more regretful of his mistakes; the defendant realizes that this is the luck of his life because thanks to the court, his mistakes have stopped to be corrected appropriately, that is a luck.

During this time, the defendant had the opportunity to observe the examples around him, especially the officers at the People's Procuracy, the Investigation Police, the detention camp officers, the People's Court... - those who ensure the enforcement of the law, for a peaceful life. It showed the defendant that this life is completely trustworthy, those are examples of law-abiding people who ensure the peace of society.
Finally, the defendant would like to apologize to everyone, family, relatives, colleagues and individuals involved in the case who have suffered the consequences. The defendant apologizes to those people, and asks the panel of judges to consider the defense of the lawyers to give the defendant a more appropriate sentence. I promise to reform sooner to become a better person, bringing better life values to everyone.
Defendant Nguyen Thanh Hoa:Up to this moment, I still agree with the conclusions of the People's Procuracy regarding my actions. I also do not blame anyone, and I will take full responsibility before the law.

The defendant apologizes to the People's Court and the People's Procuracy during the interrogation because of health problems, the testimony was inconsistent and hindered the People's Court; due to difficult family circumstances, I sincerely ask the People's Court to reduce my sentence to the lowest possible level so that I can soon return home to pay my respects, mourn my mother, and raise my terminally ill child.
I also apologize to the Party, the State, and the police force that have raised me since I was a child. I have not yet paid them but they have already suffered the consequences. My teammates who are currently suspended from work due to their involvement with me will soon return to work. I thank the People's Court for taking such great care of me."
