Airbag error, Nissan Vietnam recalls more than 3,000 Navara vehicles
All Nissan Navara vehicles subject to this recall in the Vietnamese market are manufactured and imported from Thailand.
A faulty inflator in the passenger side airbag was identified as the cause of the Japanese auto joint venture's recall of 3,073 Navara vehicles of the LE and XE versions manufactured between September 20, 2010 and December 1, 2014 in Thailand.
According to the error description from Nissan Vietnam, the front passenger airbag inflator, after a long time of exposure to an environment with high humidity and temperature, may be penetrated by moisture and transformed, causing it to not function properly as designed.

Nam.Nissan Vietnam must inspect and replace airbags for 3,073 Navara vehicles. |
In the event of a vehicle collision and the airbag system is deployed, the release of inert gas may create excessive internal pressure and result in the possibility of the inflator rupturing. In the event of an inflator rupturing, metal fragments of the inflator could be propelled through the inflated airbag, posing a risk of injury to the protected person.
This prevents some parts of the human body from directly colliding with the vehicle's hardware, and the airbag will then automatically deflate so as not to trap the driver and passengers in the vehicle.
The recalled Navaras will be inspected and repaired by the Japanese joint venture from now until December 20, 2018. The estimated repair time is 1.3 hours per vehicle.
