The use of Cyanuric acid, Dicyandiamide and Ammelide in animal feed will cause residues in animals, causing kidney diseases in animals and humans when using animal products containing these substances.

According to information from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, through a surprise inspection of a number of companies producing and trading animal feed, the inspectors of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development discovered a number of enterprises importing and trading Cyanuric Acide, Dicyandiamide and Ammelide in "High protein nutritional powder" to add to animal feed ingredients for catfish, livestock and poultry to increase protein content.

However, increasing this protein level has no nutritional effect (fake protein), on the other hand, it causes residue in animals, causing kidney diseases in animals and humans when using products containing this substance.

Animal and human health may be affected by the consumption of animal products containing Cyanuric acid, Dicyandiamide and Ammelide.

In order to have a scientific basis to advise the Ministry to strictly manage the above substances and promptly rectify the management of production, business and use of industrial chemicals in animal feed, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development requests the Department of Science, Technology and Environment, Vietnam Academy of Agriculture, Vietnam Veterinary Medicine, and the Institute of Animal Husbandry to give opinions on the above three substances.

Specifically, the above units need to coordinate research and clarify the effects of using this substance in livestock farming on livestock and the level of impact on consumer health when using animal products containing this substance. In addition, it is necessary to clearly understand which countries in the world allow its use, which countries prohibit or do not allow the use of these substances.

In addition, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development also requested the Department of Livestock Production to coordinate with the Directorate of Fisheries to review and rectify the management of animal feed production and trading establishments to ensure that the above substances are not used; assess and designate a testing laboratory for Cyanuric acide, Dicyandiamide and Ammelide to serve the detection and handling of violations. The study proposed to include the above substances in the list of substances prohibited from production and trading in animal feed if there is sufficient scientific and practical basis to serve the State management of animal feed.
