(Baonghean.vn) – At 3 a.m. on May 24, the Vinh City Food Safety and Hygiene Inspection Team conducted a surprise inspection at the concentrated slaughterhouse in Hamlet 5, Nghi Phu Commune, and took samples for rapid testing to detect lean meat substances such as Salbutamol and Clenbuterol. As a result, 3/3 of the test samples were positive.
The concentrated slaughterhouse in Nghi Phu Commune, Vinh City is one of the largest slaughterhouses in Nghe An and the entire North Central region. Every night, about 150-200 pigs are slaughtered here.
80% of the meat sold in Vinh city and neighboring areas comes from this slaughterhouse.
The Vinh City interdisciplinary inspection team collected 3 pig urine samples at the barn - the slaughterhouse area managed and operated by Mr. Pham Van Hanh's family.
Through rapid testing, the lean substances Salbutamol and Clenbuterol were detected, and all 3 samples tested positive.
The inspection team drew up a record, requiring Mr. Pham Van Hanh to temporarily stop slaughtering activities and take meat samples to send to specialized agencies for accurate testing.
Seal 100 kg of meat from the pigs that were sampled.
Mr. Pham Van Hanh said: This pig originated from a farm in Nghi Xuan district, Ha Tinh province, purchased by his family on the afternoon of May 23, 2016, with a quantity of 30 pigs. The family complied with the temporary suspension of slaughtering 10 pigs in the same herd. Before the Inspection Team discovered, 20 pigs suspected of containing lean meat enhancers had been slaughtered and delivered to consumers.
