Fire

(Baonghean.vn) - There are unwanted fires, but there are fires that must be lit.

When I was young, while still trying to learn about ancient philosophy, I was haunted by a concept of Heraclitus, who is considered the father of dialectics (lived from about 535 to 475 BC), who believed that fire was the origin of all things.
You may think it is a myth, you may not believe that fire is the origin of all things, but please do not doubt that this thesis once existed and is still wasting ink in many research works. Heraclitus may not be correct if viewed from a certain angle of science. But he was not mistaken when he said: “This world is only one for all things. It was not created by a god or a man, but it forever was, is, and will be an eternal fire, as the measure of what is burning, and the level of what is dying”. And he also said, “Fire lives by dead earth, air lives by dead fire, water lives by dead air, earth lives by dead water”.
I am not wise enough to argue, nor am I foolish enough to slander, for at least Heraclitus had a love, if not a worship, for fire. I, and I hope you do too, try to imagine this world without fire. What a disaster, oh no, beyond a disaster! Ah, if there were no fire, there would be no you and me in this world to so generously let our imaginations run wild. Right?
It is not funny to say that humans came to this planet because of the discovery of fire. While enjoying grilled food on the sidewalk, I excitedly bragged to my friend that we were practicing prehistoric food! It was the discovery of fire and the ability to cook food that turned wild apes into a primitive human community.
There is enough reason to believe that, one day in the distant past, a mighty fire came from a thunderbolt in the sky, burning down half of the forest, the slow-moving wild animals sacrificed themselves to the fire. Thus, grilled meat dishes were officially born. Then one fine day, the owner of those grilled meat meals from God accidentally rubbed the stones together, the fire flared up and fire officially became a source of human life. The passionate fire brought humans through the primitive. Fire gave heat to help humans overcome the cold winter, fire was a weapon to prevent wild animals, fire repelled bees and snakes and higher, fire was a signal for humans to recognize each other, inform each other, support each other and save each other. Not only using fire to cook food, repel wild animals, warm up, and gather after each day of work, but by the sacred fire, humans began to form festivals. Fire turned the life of "herds and flocks" into a community, fire established community, established feelings and even established family. Fire carries the mission of creation to kindle, warm and ignite civilizations.
Fire exists naturally among humans as a talisman. Greek mythology records that Prometheus stole the fire of Heaven for mankind, accepted the punishment of Zeus, and brought fire to humans to dispel ignorance and darkness... In the Central Highlands, there is still a "Fire King", recognized as a national cultural relic. There is still a Fire King here. At Dat Set Pagoda (Soc Trang), there is a pair of candles that have been burning for nearly 50 years, and according to calculations, it will take another 600 years for that fire to "transfer generations". Then the Pha Then ethnic group in some regions, the northern mountainous region has the custom of fire jumping. After being given power by the "Fire God", the young men in the village can jump into a pile of burning coal without being harmed. From the mountains to the plains, on New Year's Eve, the whole family gathers around the stove to cook cakes to watch the fire waiting for the new year to come, looking back to their roots and ancestors. Fire is like that, the friendlier it is, the gentler it is.
Fire is a symbol of strength, of civilization, of truth, fire becomes a sacred belief, a symbol of peace, of solidarity. Every sports event, we are moved to watch the sacred fire burning on the torch stand after being cherished by the typical athletes. A fire also brightens up life. The sincere fire drives away the calculations of everyday life. It is not by chance that Huy Can chose the two words "Sacred Fire" to name his first collection of poems. It is also not by chance that Andersen used the last fire of "The Little Match Girl" to warm a soul on a cold winter night. It is not by chance that musician Tran Tien wrote such a majestic song "Highland Fire". Since ancient times, the fire has been a place where the whole family gathers to share meals and warm fire. The fire is a symbol of family, a happy family, a family that never "goes out".
From a natural science perspective, fire is the rapid oxidation of a material in a combustion reaction, releasing heat and light. Flame is a visible manifestation of combustion, a state of existence of matter and is classified as a type of plasma gas - partially ionized. However, I prefer to talk about fire in the way of poet Luu Quang Vu:
People are like fire, right?
The storms of a thousand years continue to follow each other without stopping

But the fire of love when angry
Every cage and every throne will be turned into ashes.

So, when stepping outside the concepts of physics and chemistry, fire is the symbol of reason, will and strength. A football match is only exciting when the players have fire in their performance. A marriage cannot be happy if the fire of love has gone out. In recent years, the phrase "sunset of tenure" has appeared to refer to people who have run out of fire. Not only cadres but sometimes even employees, they exist like shadows, they do not criticize, they do not praise, they are not fast and not too slow, they have no opinions and do not bother to express their opinions. They do not work, do not progress, do not sacrifice, do not contribute and are not passionate. Why, they have run out of fire!
According to feng shui experts, this year is the year of wood, and wood generates fire, so people hope it will be a year of “fire”. Fire is a friend, a benefactor, but fire can also be a punishment. It is very scary to let “fire near straw”. Every year, the whole country has more than 4,000 fires, burning thousands of billions of dong and countless lives. Then there is the example of moths, recklessly and madly rushing into the fire, only to finally receive death in the limitless irony of the world.
There are unwanted fires, but there are fires that must be lit. The anti-corruption campaign of the Party and State is being "fueled" by the people and has high expectations. The head of the Steering Committee used a very figurative comparison: "When the furnace is hot, fresh wood must also burn. Dry wood, medium wood burns first, then the whole furnace heats up, all agencies get involved, no one stands outside. And it is impossible to stand outside. No individual can not do it if they want to, that is success".
Fire is like that, when it flares up, even iron melts. No one can live without fire, no one is allowed to be ungrateful to fire, but no one is foolish enough to play with fire.
