Fraudulent worship of the underworld soldiers to appropriate 2.5 billion VND

On November 28, the Investigation Police Agency of Kon Tum Province issued a decision to prosecute the case, prosecute the accused and temporarily detain Ngo Quan Duy (born in 1992, residing in Long Tuyen Ward, Binh Thuy District, Can Tho City) and Nguyen Thi Tuyet Loan (born in 1972, residing in An Ngai Trung Commune, Ba Tri District, Ben Tre Province) to continue investigating the crime of "Fraudulent appropriation of property".

Previously, around June 2021, through social networks, Duy knew that Ms. N. (residing in Kon Tum City) wanted to find someone to perform spiritual worship to cure her brother's illness and pray for peace for family members, so he contacted Ms. N. to receive the worship and Ms. N. agreed.

During the ceremony (the two sides did not meet in person but only through social networks), Duy told Ms. N. that her brother was under a spell, so he introduced Ms. N. to Loan, a disciple of a monk in Thailand who could cure Ms. N.'s brother.

To gain N.'s trust, Duy prepared content for Loan to act as Duy's aunt and talk to N. about spiritual matters and family worship rituals. Duy and Loan fabricated and made up many untrue stories to get N.'s money by performing rituals such as: lighting the lamp, exchanging lives, worshiping the dead...

Next, Duy told Ms. N. to transfer the money so that Duy could send it to the monks in Thailand to perform the ceremony. After Ms. N.'s brother recovered, Duy would return the money and only keep 100,000 VND for the oil for each offering.

Trusting Duy, Ms. N. transferred money into Duy's bank account many times, totaling 2.5 billion VND. After receiving the money, Duy suddenly cut off contact. Unable to contact Duy, Ms. N. realized she had been scammed and filed a complaint with the police. The case is currently being investigated and handled by the authorities according to regulations.
