According to the police, around May 2021, Thao met Mr. NVH residing in Vinh city. Mr. H. posted a plot of land for sale on Facebook in Son Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district for more than 1.1 billion VND. At this time, Ms. T. wanted to buy land, however, she only had 400 million VND so she wanted to buy 1/3 of the land area. Thao agreed to help and found 2 other people to pool money to buy Mr. H's land. After going to see the land, Mr. H. said he urgently needed 400 million VND, so Thao asked Ms. T. to give 400 million VND and make a sales contract with Ms. T., promising to have the land title within 45 days. About a week later, Thao learned that Mr. H.'s land was in dispute, so she asked Mr. H. to return the 400 million VND deposit. However, after receiving the money from Mr. H., Thao did not return it to Ms. T. but used it to play the stock market and for personal purposes...
On January 24, 2022, Thao continued to impersonate the owner of the land plot in My Thanh commune to receive a deposit of 100 million VND from Mr. NVH residing in My Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district.
At the time of his arrest, the total amount of money that Thao had defrauded and appropriated was 1.3 billion VND. This amount was used for stock trading and personal expenses.
Currently, Yen Thanh District Police are detaining Nguyen Thi Thao to continue investigating, clarifying and handling according to the law.
