Rice prices are currently fluctuating between 5,600 and 5,800 VND/kg, giving farmers a profit of approximately 3 million VND per hectare of rice field.

Today (February 6th), many farmers in Soc Trang province went to the fields to harvest the main crop of the winter-spring rice season. Thanks to favorable weather, the rice yielded high productivity and sold at good prices, so the farmers were very happy.

On average, each hectare of rice yields approximately 7 tons/ha. Rice prices are currently quite stable, with fresh rice ranging from 5,600 to 5,800 VND/kg. For the high-yield ST5 variety, regular rice is priced from 4,900 to 5,300 VND/kg. With these prices, farmers earn a profit of 2.5-3 million VND per công (1,000 m2) after deducting expenses.

Mr. Lam Tuan Dat, from Phu My commune, My Tu district, Soc Trang province, who just finished harvesting 4 hectares of PC10 rice with a yield of nearly 7 tons/ha, happily said: “The average yield is over 900kg/hectare, much better than the previous season. Traders are buying at a higher price this season, reaching 5,000 VND/kg, while last season it was only 3,900-4,000 VND/kg. At this price, farmers are making a profit of about 3 million VND/hectare.”
