Rice prices are fluctuating from 5,600 - 5,800 VND/kg, farmers earn about 3 million VND/acre of field.
Today (February 6), many farmers in Soc Trang province went to the fields to harvest the main winter-spring rice crop. Thanks to favorable weather, the rice yielded high yields and sold at good prices, so farmers were very excited.
On average, each hectare of rice yields about 7 tons/ha. Rice prices at this time are quite stable, fresh rice ranges from 5,600 - 5,800 VND/kg. For the high-yield rice variety ST5; regular rice prices range from 4,900 - 5,300 VND/kg. With this rice price, farmers earn a profit of 2.5 - 3 million VND/cong (1,000 m2) after deducting costs.
Mr. Lam Tuan Dat, in Phu My commune, My Tu district, Soc Trang province, who has just finished harvesting 4 hectares of PC10 rice with a yield of nearly 7 tons/ha, excitedly said: “The average yield is over 900kg/cong, compared to the previous crop, which is more profitable. Traders are buying this crop at a higher price than the previous crop, reaching 5,000 VND/kg, while the previous crop was only 3,900-4,000 VND/kg. With this price, farmers make a profit of about 3 million VND/cong./.
