Tricking ex-boss into playing Rforex to appropriate more than 8 billion VND
Ms. Q used to be Thang's superior at a state agency. In April 2020, Thang introduced Ms. Q to the reputable Rforex platform. Then, Thang showed Ms. Q his account with a balance of 52,025.68 USD, making Ms. Q believe him and deposit more than 8.2 billion VND into the account to play, then Thang and his accomplices took it.
On October 23, the Hanoi People's Court opened a first-instance criminal trial of defendant Pham Thi Thai (born in 1985, residing in Vinh Tuy ward, Hai Ba Trung district, Hanoi) for the crime of "Using computer networks, telecommunications networks, and electronic means to commit acts of property appropriation".
Also appearing in court for the above crime are the defendants: Tong Van Thang (born in 1988, residing in Thuong Dinh ward, Thanh Xuan district, Hanoi), Pham Manh Hung (born in 1985, residing in Tan Quy ward, district 7, Ho Chi Minh City), Nguyen Ngoc Luong (born in 1991, residing in Tan Thoi Nhat ward, district 12, Ho Chi Minh City) and Vu Dinh Hung (born in 1983, residing in ward 5, Go Vap district, Ho Chi Minh City).
Of the five defendants on trial, three defendants in Ho Chi Minh City were detained, and two defendants in Hanoi were subject to preventive measures of being prohibited from leaving their place of residence.
According to the indictment of the Hanoi People's Procuracy, in March 2018, defendants Vu Dinh Hung, Pham Manh Hung and Nguyen Ngoc Luong together created the Rforex trading floor, pretending to be an international foreign exchange trading floor.

The defendants at trial.
The three defendants had qualifications in information technology and knew that creating a website on the MetaTrader 5 (MT5) software platform, connecting to the Rforex foreign exchange trading platform created by the defendants, and then using techniques to illegally intervene in customers' accounts to appropriate money was a violation of the law, but they still did it together.
When Rforex floor started operating, Thai participated as a level 1 agent (IB) of Manh Hung, only being granted the right to manage his customers. Around July 2018, Thai agreed to transfer the ownership of Rforex floor from Dinh Hung and Manh Hung for 20,000 USD.
Thai was handed over Rforex management accounts with full features that can interfere with all customer account data such as: automatically adjusting the amount of money deposited into the account, placing trading orders on the account, blocking transmission connections...
After handing over the management of the exchange to Thai, the defendants Manh Hung and Dinh Hung were responsible for maintaining the operation of the exchange, as well as providing technical support to Thai when operating the exchange. Thai hired consultants to advise many customers to invest money in the foreign exchange exchange.
One of the victims is Ms. Q (in Hanoi). Ms. Q used to be a colleague of Tong Van Thang. In April 2020, Thang introduced Ms. Q to the reputable Rforex floor, where Thang himself participated in high-profit trading. After that, Thang showed Ms. Q his account with a balance of 52,025.68 USD, making Ms. Q trust him and create an account to play.
From April 16 to November 9, 2020, Ms. Q deposited more than 8.2 billion VND into the above account to play. After deceiving Ms. Q, Thai and Thang discussed using the administrator account to disable access, causing Ms. Q's account to stop trading. Meanwhile, Manh Hung and Dinh Hung used their administrator rights to cause Ms. Q to lose all her money...
In court, Ms. Q said that she used to be Thang's superior. After she retired, Thang lured her to join the Rforex floor. Trusting Thang as her subordinate, Ms. Q invested billions of dong and was deceived by Thang, losing everything.
Ms. Q requested the Trial Panel to order the defendants to repay this amount. In addition, Ms. Q also requested the court to severely punish the defendants and confiscate their assets to ensure execution of the judgment.
At the trial, other victims who participated in the Rforex floor of the Thai defendant group also requested the same as Ms. Q. According to the plan, the trial will last for 3 days.
