A fire broke out and burned down a Vietnamese market in the city of Kazan, in the Republic of Tatarstan, Russia.

According to Komsomolskaya Pravda, the fire was brought under control at around 9:10 PM yesterday (local time) in the market, which covers an area of approximately 2,800 square meters.

Half an hour after the fire was discovered, it had already burned approximately 500 square meters.

Currently, authorities have been unable to contact the owner of the market, Ms. Coy.

Although no conclusion has yet been reached regarding the cause of the fire, the newspaper reports that one possible cause is related to the fire suppression system.

“We don’t know what happened, why the fire broke out. How can we say anything next? We don’t know anything, and we can’t rule out any cause, including gas or electricity. During the day, the market is always guarded,” a government official said.

This is not the first time a Vietnamese market in Russia has been hit by fire. In 2006, this market was completely destroyed by fire.

At the time, the exact amount of damage could not be quantified, but many shop owners had invested a significant amount of goods in this market, possibly tens of millions of rubles.
