The Shah Alam High Court in Selangor, Malaysia, will continue the trial of Vietnamese citizen Doan Thi Huong in the case of a North Korean citizen murdered at Kuala Lumpur airport last year from March 20 to March 23, according to a statement from the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In this trial, defense attorney for defendant Huong andMalaysian investigation agency representative argued aboutincriminating evidence collected during the investigation of the case, including video extracted from airport and hotel security cameras and clips filmed in Vietnam. The lawyers said that the evidence provided by the investigation agency was incomplete, uncertain and unconvincing.

On the sidelines of the trial, representatives of the Vietnamese Embassy in Malaysia met and encouraged Doan Thi Huong. This citizen is in stable health and spirit.

The Shah Alam High Court will next hear the case on April 2.The Vietnamese diplomatic agency in Malaysia said it will continue to coordinate with defense lawyers and relevant agencies to protect the legitimate rights and interests of citizen Doan Thi Huong.

Mr. Naran Singh, a defense lawyer for Huong, said on March 21 that the videos in Vietnam showed that Huong participated in the production of prank and comedy videos, showing that she was the victim, not the perpetrator, in this murder plot.

Doan Thi Huong andIndonesian suspect Siti Aisyah is on trial in Malaysia for smearing VX nerve agent on the face of a North Korean man identified as Kim Chol at Kuala Lumpur airport in February 2017. He is believed to be Kim Jong-nam, the half-brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un. The victim died shortly afterwards. If convicted, Huong and Siti could face the death penalty.
