Navigos Group, the leading human resource recruitment service provider in Vietnam, has just announced data on the demand for mid-level and senior level personnel recruitment in the Vietnamese market in the second quarter of 2018. Notably, the high recruitment demand is concentrated in the fields of manufacturing, information technology and electrical engineering.

IT with "huge" salaries still can't find staff

However, the labor market is very short of experienced personnel working in this field. Therefore, businesses are willing to recruit general information technology engineers and they will be given three months to research this technology before being able to develop actual products.

This reputable online recruiter believes that although the Vietnamese engineering team is young and has a lot of interest in new technology, they are still relatively hesitant to decide to move to this field to work. Because it is very difficult to recruit Vietnamese IT engineers, foreign businesses operating in this field have to recruit experts from abroad (mainly candidates from Russia, Ukraine and the US), although the salaries paid to Vietnamese and foreign candidates are similar (about 40-60 million VND/month).

According to records, in the second quarter, the Northern market saw a very high demand for recruitment of IT engineers in the fields of finance, banking and Fintech. The main reason is that these businesses are looking to build an internal IT engineering team to serve the development of products in the "digital technology" race in the finance and banking sector.

Textile supply cannot meet demand

According to Navigos Search, in the second quarter, textile and garment enterprises in the North expanded their factories to double their scale. Accordingly, the demand for recruiting personnel at all levels increased correspondingly. However, the manufacturing industry is facing a shortage of local human resources, even in neighboring areas, so many enterprises have to accept finding personnel in the Southern market to work in the Northern region, where supply still cannot meet demand.

Notably, for management positions, recruitment is also difficult due to the high requirements for meeting international standards in operations related to compliance and discipline. At the same time, although having management experience, many candidates at this level are not fluent in English. This is also a weakness of many Vietnamese mid-level personnel, especially in the manufacturing sector.
