Dedicated to work but salary is not enough to cover expenses
Sharing with us, Mr. Hoang said: "Actually, I have a simple thought about leaving the civil service to go home and work for myself. There are also many people who feel regretful and wonder why I quit when my career is on the rise, I hold a high position and especially I have no discipline?
I just laugh to let them know that it doesn't mean that a man like me has to stop in this life. Maybe I can develop and get rich in my own way."
Mr. Hoang added: "In the past 11 years of work, I have tried to do my job well and when I became the Head of Department, I did the same. However, with a salary of 4 million VND/month, life has caused me many difficulties. The low salary has made me lose my enthusiasm to contribute and to work. So, what is the point of keeping my position when both factors for survival are not present?"
Quit civil servant position to sell goods on the street
After many years of working, Mr. Hoang got married, worked hard and became a Department Head. However, because his current job did not pay enough to support his life, he decided to find a new direction for himself.
"I did some research and found out that the Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee has planned streets in Buon Ma Thuot City to allow sidewalk sales. Therefore, after quitting my office job, I decided to make a cart and find a location to sell grilled chicken and deliver it to customers in need for 140,000 VND/chicken," Mr. Hoang told reporters with a smile.
According to Mr. Hoang, with his new job, he feels happy and hopes to serve many people.
"If I work honestly and live honestly, people will support me and I will be recognized. As for this, when I was a civil servant, I was almost not recognized," said Mr. Hoang.

Regarding this issue, answering reporters, Mr. Mien Klong (Director of the Department of Home Affairs of Dak Lak province) said that it is common knowledge that civil servants do not receive enough salary to live on.
"Many people have asked for leave to sell outside to make a living, affecting their professional work. According to the survey, if Decree 108 on the policy of reducing staff is changed in the direction that those who have completed their tasks well can still ask for leave, the number of civil servants asking for leave under this policy will be very large," the Department Director shared.
According to the reporter's investigation, the salary of civil servants is not enough to live on, so it is easy for negative things to happen, such as making things difficult for people to extort money, and making money in the process of solving work. Right at the Department of Home Affairs of Dak Lak province, some people quit their jobs after a few years of working because their salaries were too low.
According to a leader of the Department of Industry and Trade of Dak Lak province, during his time working at this agency, Mr. Hoang always completed his assigned tasks well.
"Recently, Mr. Hoang submitted a resignation letter for family reasons. The unit also reported to the superiors and investigated to understand his thoughts and wishes. And it is known that because the salary is not enough for life, Mr. Hoang requested to resign. After Mr. Hoang submitted the letter, we also encouraged him, but Hoang insisted on resigning to find another job, so on July 18, the Director of the Department of Industry and Trade signed a decision to terminate his employment in accordance with regulations," said Mr. Mien Klong.
