The reason Cam Ly quit singing for the past year

'For the past year I have had health problems and have had to try to treat them,' Cam Ly shared.

Recently, Cam Ly has been in high demand for hot seats on television shows for both children and adults. She was a coach for The Voice Kids, Little Hero for children and Duet Peak. Recently, Tu continued to be the main judge for Duet Peak – Golden Couple for artists.

At the press conference to launch the program, Cam Ly shared about what she fears most when sitting in the hot seat. “Up until now, I have always been afraid of offending others, especially artists who have a certain reputation and position. Therefore, when commenting and giving advice, I often choose my words carefully to avoid any misunderstandings or worries and to work together happily” – Cam Ly shared.

However, Cam Ly also admitted that it was not because she was afraid of offending that she made such easy-going comments: “Mr. Dam Vinh Hung often calls me a 'difficult teacher' because I rarely praise or flatter contestants, even contestants on my team. I still look straight at the contestants' shortcomings and choose my words carefully.” Ms. Tu also humorously admitted: “My personality has always been like that, if I can't be flattering, what can I do now!”

Many people think that if we are afraid of offending others, the quality of the competition will decrease, but Cam Ly shared: “As I shared, I am very afraid of offending others, especially my colleagues in the profession. However, the competition also has its own rules, so Dam Vinh Hung and I have an agreement that in the first one or two rounds, we will only contribute for fun and lightheartedness. However, when we get to the later rounds, Dam Vinh Hung and I will act properly as judges. Because if we are too lenient, we will inevitably be criticized for being biased.”

Cam Ly also does not want to be criticized for being biased when being a judge.

Talking about the past year of not singing or releasing new music products, Cam Ly confided: "For the past year, I had health problems and had to try to treat them. Even though I couldn't sing, I accepted to be a judge, partly because of my passion, because I could live in the music world, and also because I had to make money, otherwise who would earn money to raise my children (laughs out loud)".

Sitting in the hot seat has its joys but it is not without pressure, even very painful and 'bitter' moments. Because when I make the decision to eliminate or keep a contestant, I have to endure harsh judgments and comments from the audience.
