Phi Nhung guested on a TV showTonight's story with Thanh. The female singer cried when talking about her personal life and her role as a foster mother to 23 children in unfortunate circumstances since birth. She said she lost her mother when she was young, her family was poor so she could not go to school when she was little. "Many times I wanted to call out to her mother but there was no mother to call out to. Later, when I went to school but was bullied by my friends, I could not tell my parents but could only tell my grandmother. When I adopted children, I let them know that from now on they will always have their mother by their side. Their biological parents abandoned them once, and if I, the foster mother, abandon them again, who would they trust?", the female singer confided to MC Tran Thanh.

Phi Nhung affirmed that she will stay single to raise her children to be successful. "When they grow up, they can proudly tell everyone about their mother named Phi Nhung. I always think that to have the motivation to take care of my children until now. I think no man will accept to adopt all of my children for me. People can give them a lot of money but they cannot give them love," she said.

Currently, Phi Nhung is raising more than 20 homeless and abandoned children by herself. She believes that the children came to her by fate. Some of the children were adopted by the singer as soon as they were born. The oldest child is now 11 years old and the youngest is 6 months old. MC Tran Thanh speculates that it was the difficult life in her hometown of Gia Lai that made Phi Nhung want to give good things to orphans. The singer admitted that she wanted to make up for the children who were in the same situation as her in the past. "I hope my children grow up innocently like their peers, with siblings, family, and a loving and protective mother," Phi Nhung affirmed.

She said she is not a hard-hearted person but has been moved many times, fallen in love passionately but still decided to break up. Phi Nhung's sharing made Tran Thanh tear up with emotion. He still advised his "senior" to think about her own happiness and find a man for her children to call father.

Phi Nhung was born in 1972 in Pleiku, Gia Lai. Her father is American and her mother is Vietnamese. As a child, Phi Nhung lived in difficult circumstances, without a father, her mother died early, and she had to live with her grandparents. She only studied until 6th grade before having to work to make a living. In 1989, Phi Nhung immigrated to the US as a mixed-race child. Thanks to Trizzie Phuong Trinh's help, she realized her dream of becoming a singer. She became famous when she performed the songHometown Riverwith singer Thai Chau.
