Reasons why you shouldn't try to drive when you're almost out of fuel.

Driving when the fuel is almost depleted is bad for the engine and other parts of the vehicle.

According to experts, the fuel level in a car's tank should always be around half full. Under no circumstances should you try to drive when the fuel gauge shows it's nearly empty. At that point, the driver should refuel immediately.

Experts analyze that if a vehicle frequently operates with low fuel levels, it can easily damage the engine and other mechanical parts. This is because every vehicle has many mechanical components designed to function optimally under fuel conditions, thereby increasing engine durability and preventing corrosion from external factors.

In addition, the fuel pump is responsible for delivering fuel from the fuel tank to the combustion chamber, and it is considered a crucial part of the pumping system. If a driver attempts to drive when the fuel tank is empty, it will cause significant damage, especially to the filter and motor.

Therefore, when the vehicle is moving with an empty fuel tank, air will flow through and replace the fuel cooling for the copper coils in the fuel pump. This means the copper coils cannot cool effectively, leading to the electric motor overheating and easily getting damaged.

Furthermore, when a vehicle is driven with an empty fuel tank, sediment in the tank is also drawn into the fuel pump to supply the engine. Repeating this process multiple times will cause more fuel sediment to accumulate in the tank, leading to reduced performance or even engine corrosion.

Because when sediment accumulates in the fuel tank and is then drawn up, it will stick to the filter, causing it to become clogged and preventing fuel from reaching the combustion chamber. This will make it very difficult to start the car, and if there is too much sediment, it may even prevent it from starting at all. In addition, when the fuel flow is obstructed by sediment on the filter core, it will affect the cooling of the electric motor that pumps the fuel.

Meanwhile, if the car is running with a full tank of fuel, the fuel tank also acts as a cooling system for the electric motor, because the process of drawing fuel from the tank to the engine requires the fuel to pass through a circular fuel pump and cool the copper coils.

Therefore, if vehicle owners want to avoid incurring additional repair costs such as replacing fuel filters or fuel pumps before their scheduled maintenance, they should pay attention to the fuel gauge and refuel when the gauge shows the minimum level to ensure the vehicle runs smoothly and lasts longer.

Not to mention that drivers frequently letting their fuel tanks run empty for extended periods can lead to rust in the tank, causing it to burst and leak fuel. This then greatly increases the risk of fire and vehicle combustion.
