Lyon shocked by putting Depay's shirt in museum
Lyon Club (France) has an act of gratitude beyond everyone's expectations when they put Memphis Depay's shirt in the museum right after this player scored his first goal for the club.
The shirt Depay wore in the 4-0 win over Nancy on February 8 was put in the museum as a historical piece. This was only the first match in which the player scored for Lyon, with a goal and an assist from a penalty.
From England, where Depay recently left after a year and a half of failure at Man Utd, most opinions expressed disbelief at Lyon's decision. Many sports newspapers and football fans said that the French team was acting without thinking.
"God only knows what will happen if Memphis scores in the next game. A statue? Or a stand named after him? Oh, why not name the whole stadium after him," Joe page kept asking.

Lyon expect Depay to soon become a superstar. |
Lyon recently bought Depay from Man Utd in the January 2017 transfer window, for around $20 million. This price is lower than the $31 million the Red Devils spent when buying him from PSV in 2015.
Man Utd once hoped Depay would be the new Ronaldo. The club also gave Depay the number 7 shirt that Ronaldo and Beckham used to wear. However, this player only played well for the first few months before declining rapidly.
