MU 1-2 Swansea: A nightmare at Old Trafford

Bony's header in the 90th minute knocked Manchester United out of the third round of the FA Cup. Once again, their home ground became a graveyard for the Red Devils. And once again, the FA Cup became a decade-long source of pain for Manchester United.

MU were defeated by Swansea.

Next up against Swansea,Manager David MoyesThere were at least six changes to the starting lineup. Reserve players like Lindegaard, Ferdinand, Buttner, Chicharito, Fletcher, and Kagawa all started. With so many reserve players, it's no surprise that Man United continued to play as dullly as usual.

In the first half, they had less possession than Swansea (48% compared to 52%). In fact, the visitors were the first to score. In the 12th minute, Pozuelo played a delicate through ball past the entire MU defense, allowing Routledge to break free and face De Gea one-on-one. Naturally, Routledge didn't miss the opportunity to beat De Gea. However, the joy of coach Laudrup's team was short-lived. In the 16th minute, Buttner delivered an accurate cross for Chicharito to make a clever run and tap the ball in from close range, bringing the game back to a tie.

For the remainder of the first half, no further notable opportunities were created. The striker duo ofMAYDespite Welbeck and Chicharito's active participation, all of the Red Devils' attacks lacked creativity in the final passes.

In the second half, the game remained unchanged. MU truly lacked a playmaker in midfield to provide passes to forwards like Welbeck and Chicharito. Therefore, it's understandable that they continued to attack without success. In the 80th minute, substitute Fabio received a direct red card after a rough tackle on Canas. This proved to be the turning point of the match. Swansea capitalized on their numerical advantage to score the winning goal in the 90th minute through Bony, securing a 2-1 victory.

With this defeat, Old Trafford once again became a graveyard for MU. And once again,FA CupIt became a decade-long pain for the Red Devils…
