Woman loses more than 2 billion VND after falling into a trap of a 'handsome guy' on social media
Ms. H. lost a total of 2.4 billion VND, due to the financial investment invitation of the person using the image of a "handsome, rich man" on a social networking site.

In March 2024, Ms. NTH, residing in Bai Chay ward, Ha Long city, was contacted by a subject through a Facebook social network account, with the image of a successful man, handsome, young, texting to get acquainted. After gaining trust and affection, the subject continued to entice Ms. H to participate in an online financial investment platform on the website investmment.com and told Ms. H that this was a quick investment website, just need to deposit money and follow the instructions to have very high profits.
On March 23, following the subject's instructions, Ms. H accessed the link https://investmment.com/pages/common/login? scode=143616, registered to participate, transferred 13 million VND to the bank account provided by the subject and received interest of 2.5 million VND, which was immediately transferred back to Ms. H's account.
In the following days, from March 25 to March 27, Ms. H continuously transferred money many times into the account provided by the subject, a total of nearly 2.4 billion VND and received interest in the virtual USD amount on the investmment.com trading floor.
However, when Ms. H made the order to withdraw money to her bank account, it was not successful. Ms. H asked the subject, and was told that in order to withdraw money, she had to continue to deposit another 300 million VND to complete the disbursement procedure. Without any doubt, Ms. H followed the subject's instructions. However, after completing the order, she still could not withdraw money. Only then did Ms. H realize that she had been scammed.
According to Quang Ninh Provincial Police, using the same method as above, Ms. HTT, residing in Ha Long City, was scammed out of nearly 1 billion VND by a bad guy.
The common method is that scammers learn about and approach their “targets” through social media channels, dating sites or forums. Then, they use stolen photos of other people with beautiful and attractive appearances; create a fake romantic relationship with the victim by using tricks such as flirting, sharing touching stories or making promises.
After gaining the victims' trust, they entice and entice them to participate in financial and stock investment floors and websites with the promise of very high profits.
Initially, when the victim deposits a small amount of money, they pay the full interest. Then, when the victim trusts them and invests a large amount of money, the scammers will commit the act of appropriation.
