“The Source of Vi and Giam” tells stories of everyday life

On the evening of December 22, at the Provincial Traditional Arts Center, performing artists reported on the 2025 Vi and Giam art program titled "The Source of Vi and Giam".

Attending the program were Ms. Quach Thi Cuong - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture & Sports; Mr. Ho Mau Thanh - Chairman of the Nghe An Literature and Arts Association; People's Artist Tien Dung - Head of the Vietnam Musicians Association of Nghe An province; and a large number of people came to watch and cheer.

The source of Vi and GiamTelling everyday stories, is the loving voice of the working people "working day in and day out" behind the bamboo fences of the village.

Through original Vi and Giam melodies, modified melodies, newly composed melodies; through rich forms of expression: Performance, love songs, singing and dancing, combining folk and developing in music and dance, has created a new attraction but imbued with the cultural source of Vi and Giam Nghe Tinh.

The program consists of 2 parts: Part 1 is called "The picture of the countryside" with the main content: Each of us has a place called homeland, that place is always engraved in the heart. In the hustle and bustle of life, just remembering the dawn scene in the countryside, people's hearts feel peaceful and warm.

Nghe An is not only beautiful with green mountains and blue waters, with hard-working people, but this place also preserves long-standing customs and practices, creating a unique cultural identity that cannot be mixed with many other regions.

Part 2, called Vi, Giam Bay Xa, conveys the content: Through many changes in history and life, Kinh people went to the mountains to reclaim land, make a living, and live among ethnic minorities. Many Vi, Giam folk song clubs were established, Mong, Thai, Tho, Kho Mu, and O Du people all know how to sing Vi, Giam folk songs.

Many songs performed in part 2 have conveyed messages, like and flying to all directions, remaining in the work and life of people in all regions of the country.

The rehearsal ceremony with many outstanding performances, clearly exuding the spirit of Nghe An's Vi and Giam, delighted the audience and received positive comments from the art council.
