Lovely greeting of first grade teacher and students
More than 140 first grade students at Saigon University Practice Primary School (District 3) hug, shake hands, and fist bump their teachers... before class every morning.

Children line up in front of the classroom at 7:15. On the wall to the right of the classroom door hang symbols.shake hands,fist bump,high fiveandhug.Students would tap on the symbol they wanted to be greeted in, and the teacher would immediately do so. "Hello Bao Chau, hello Minh Ngoc, hello Cong Thanh...", Ms. Nguyen Ngoc Bao Nghi (homeroom teacher of class 1/2) said to the students in turn.
In the next class, the children were welcomed similarly by Ms. Tram Anh, Bao Ngoc... Most of the children seemed to enjoy this greeting, while some were still confused and forgot.
Principal Pham Thi Thanh Tu said the school learned this method from foreign schools to create a bond between teachers and students. Each teacher will design funny greeting boards in her own way.
The principal said that on the first day of school, some children were still confused and sad when they had to leave their parents. But after this exchange, they became happier and gradually got used to the classroom. "The way they choose to greet each child shows their personality. Usually, girls choose to hug the teacher, while boys prefer to shake hands or fist bump," said Ms. Tu.

According to Ms. Bao Ngoc (homeroom teacher of class 1/4), this greeting helps many children become more confident and excited to come to class every day. Teachers can also grasp each child's personality to teach better.
Saigon University Practice Primary School is a public educational institution under Saigon University, established by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee in May. This is the school's first school year with 5 grade 1 classes and more than 140 students.
