Man City closes deal to buy Tottenham defender for world record price
The Etihad Stadium team continued their tradition of making blockbuster deals with English defenders, when they reached an agreement to buy back Kyle Walker from Tottenham.
Sky Sports reported on July 13 that Man City agreed to buy defender Kyle Walker for $64.5 million. The right-back is expected to arrive at Man City for a medical in the next few days.
Once the deal is completed, Walker will become the most expensive defender in the world, equal to the contract David Luiz signed when he moved from Chelsea to PSG.

Kyle Walker has suddenly become Man City's number one priority for the right-back position, after Guardiola was overruled by his former student Dani Alves. |
Man City have a long tradition of spending big on defenders. Last season, they spent 61.3 million dollars to get the signature of center back John Stones. Eliaquim Mangala and Nicolas Otamendi, who are in the top 5 most expensive defenders, are also Man City players.
After being "turned over" by Dani Alves at the last minute, Pep Guardiola had to turn to the option of buying Walker and had to spend a lot of money to convince Tottenham to let him go.
Last season, Man City said goodbye to a series of full-backs such as Bacary Sagna, Gael Clichy and Pablo Zabaleta, so they really need to add a quality defender.
Walker has been in the Premier League Team of the Year for the past two seasons. The 27-year-old defender has been with Spurs since 2009 and has played over 200 games.
Besides Walker, Man City is also about to successfully buy left-back Benjamin Mendy from Monaco.
