Man City can only blame luck for not being able to extend their three-game winning streak against Wolves. Guardiola's side hit the woodwork three times. However, the most disappointing thing was that they conceded a goal from a situation that should not have been a goal. Center-back Willy Boly handled the ball and it went into the Man City net when he opened the scoring early in the second half.
The defending champions' efforts earned them an equaliser through centre-back Laporte. The centre-back who cost Man City £80m earlier this year charged in with a powerful header from Ilkay Gundogan's free kick.
A draw against Wolves could see Man City lose top spot after round three. Direct rivals Chelsea and Liverpool are not facing strong opponents in this round.

The match at Molineux was a battle between the champions of last season's top two divisions in England. Wolves secured automatic promotion after winning the Championship. Meanwhile, Man City dominated the Premier League to win the title with 100 points.
Man City were certainly not satisfied with a point, but Wolves showed a courage that few teams have against Guardiola's army. While Man City often forced their opponents to retreat to defend before finishing them off, Wolves played very proactively, ready to counterattack their opponents when the opportunity arose without any hesitation.
Nuno Espirito Santo's side were jubilant after the final whistle. They had chances to beat City, including a goal that was ruled out for offside early in the first half. However, a point was a great result considering City started the season with wins over Chelsea and Arsenal, then demolished Huddersfield by six goals in their last game.

Guardiola seemed unaware that this could be the odd moment to end City's winning streak, and that was evident in the game when Wolves did not park the bus, but instead counter-attacked with Helder Costa coming down the right flank, giving Benjamin Mendy a tough afternoon.
Besides, Man City's opponent in this match is also themselves. Captain Kompany became a burden for his teammates when he was slow to move, allowing the home strikers to have dangerous opportunities. Ruben Neves and Raul Jimenez took turns benefiting from Kompany and once put the ball into Man City's net but were called offside.
Up front, the two in-form stars Aguero and Sterling were both unlucky in this match. The duo had two shots that hit the woodwork when Man City needed to break the deadlock.
