Kevin de Bruyne once again starred in Man City's 22nd Premier League win of the season. The Belgian midfielder set up the opener with a precise through ball for Fernandinho to run in and finish from a tight angle.
In the second half, De Bruyne doubled the score himself after initiating a counter-attack and finishing from a combination with Sterling. By the end of the match, Sterling had another assist for Aguero to score the final goal to make it 3-0. Aguero's goal was also Man City's 100th in all competitions this season. They became the first team in the Premier League to reach that milestone.

The victory over West Brom helped Man City widen the gap with Man Utd to 15 points. With the current momentum, Man Utd need to win eight more matches in the remaining 13 rounds to be crowned champions, but in reality this number may be lower when the opponents behind are not stable.
West Brom have been pushed to the bottom of the table after round 25. The defeat to Man City left the team with only 20 points and four points behind the safety of Huddersfield Town.
A defeat at the Etihad Stadium was a foregone conclusion for West Brom. The home team proved to be too strong, causing West Brom to be dominated for almost the entire match. West Brom's most dangerous chance came in the 88th minute after new signing Daniel Sturridge came off the bench.

In the match against West Brom, Man City also introduced the most expensive contract in the club's history, Aymeric Laporte. The center-back worth 80 million dollars had a match soon after completing the transfer, because the duo John Stones and Vincent Kompany were not in the best shape.
This was a suitable match for Laporte to make his debut as West Brom failed to put enough pressure on the Man City defence. The 24-year-old rookie often moved forward to coordinate with the midfielders. Laporte had the second highest passing accuracy rate for Man City in this match, only behind Bernardo Silva.
