Man Utd beat Real after penalty shootout with seven missed shots
After a 1-1 draw in regulation time, Man Utd beat Real 2-1 in a penalty shootout.
Goals: Casemiro 69' penalty - Lingard 45'
Man Utd took the lead against Real thanks to a solo effort from Anthony Martial. From the left wing, the French striker dribbled past three opponents and then passed the ball to Lingard. With only an empty goal in front of him, Lingard simply tapped the ball in for Man Utd.

As predicted before the friendly match at the ICC, Real did not lose easily even without Ronaldo. After Victor Lindelof tripped Theo Hernandez in the Man Utd penalty area in the 69th minute, the referee awarded the reigning Champions League champions a penalty. This was an opportunity to equalize and midfielder Casemiro did not miss it.
After 90 minutes with the score 1-1, Man Utd and Real had to take a penalty shootout to decide the winner. In total, both teams missed seven shots, but the Red Devils won 2-1. Goalkeeper David de Gea became the hero for Man Utd with two successful saves.
After being Real's equaliser in the starting line-up, Casemiro disappointed when he missed the final penalty. The Brazilian midfielder's ball flew over the crossbar, while goalkeeper De Gea misjudged the direction. Real also had three other misses, including two by Kovacic, Oscar shot into De Gea's hands and one by Theo Hernandez sending the ball wide. Man Utd's three misses belonged to Martial, McTominay and Lindelof, while Mkhitaryan and Daley Blind completed their tasks.

As a friendly match, Man Utd and Real have unlimited substitutions. Both teams took full advantage of the situation as the Red Devils only made one less substitution than their opponents (10-11).
The lineup Real used in the first half was almost the strongest lineup. The only one missing was Ronaldo, who has not returned after his summer vacation.
Real Madrid fielded a strong squad, but failed to get into the rhythm of the game. Luka Modric and his teammates rarely posed any danger to Man Utd's goal.
The Red Devils did not use new signings Lindelof and Lukaku from the start, but played more sharply in the first half. Before the opening goal in the 45th minute, Lingard had a shot from outside the box that forced goalkeeper Keylor Navas to jump to save.
Real brought in many young players from the start of the second half, but they surprisingly played well. On the contrary, Man Utd's second half lineup had many more stars but failed to make an impression. After Casemiro's equalizer, Real almost took a 2-1 lead from a free kick by young player Quezada.
After the first match of the summer tour, Real will prepare to face Man City on July 26. On the same day, Man Utd will face Barca.
