Man Utd lose both Lukaku and Ibrahimovic.
Jose Mourinho confirmed that both of his available strikers are injured and will be out for an extended period.
Romelu Lukaku suffered a head collision with Southampton defender Wesley Hoedt during the match on December 30th and had to leave the field early in the first half. The Belgian striker received treatment on the pitch for about five minutes before being given oxygen and stretchered off the field.
"I'm not sure of his exact condition. I think everything is proceeding normally, because if there were bad news, it would be reported immediately. But I haven't received any information yet," Jose Mourinho shared after the 0-0 draw with Southampton. "But when Lukaku was immediately sent off by the doctors without a second thought, from my experience, I think he will miss at least two games."

The most likely replacement for Lukaku at center forward, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, is also injured and was not included in the squad for the match on December 30th. This was confirmed by Mourinho, who stated: "He will be out for about a month. The injury is in his knee. It's a big problem for Ibrahimovic because he's 36 years old and has only recently returned from injury."
Sky Sports reports that Manchester United will definitely be without both strikers for their first match of 2018 against Everton."We started the game badly, losing our main striker and lacking the best replacement on the bench," Mourinho explained about the team's poor form. "We only had one substitute in attack for the remaining 80 minutes."
Without their number one striker, Man Utd went four consecutive games without a win and three consecutive draws in the Premier League. As a result, they lost their second place in the table to Chelsea, after Antonio Conte's side beat Stoke City 5-0.
However, Man Utd doesn't seem to have any plans to strengthen their attack in the winter transfer window. "I'm really not sure about the management's plans," Mourinho revealed. "But I'm pleased with my players' attitude. They are eager to fight, and I can't find anything to criticize about them."
In the current Manchester United squad, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial are both capable of playing as strikers. However, both have frequently been deployed on the wings during the first half of this season.
