Laotian youth sentenced for bringing drugs to Vietnam

(Baonghean.vn) - While carrying drugs from Laos to Vietnam to solve the problem of buying and selling cars, Pheng Xi was discovered and arrested by Ky Son District Police.

On the morning of July 25, Nghe An Provincial People's Court opened a first-instance criminal trial to try the case of Illegal possession of narcotics against Pheng Xi (also known as Lu Pheng), born in 1995, residing in Noong Het district, Xieng Khouang province, Lao PDR.

According to the records, on January 27, 2017, Pheng Xi was “offered” opium and heroin by a Mong man. Due to his drug addiction, Pheng Xi decided to buy 50 heroin pills and some opium resin from the man for 450,000 kip.

On the morning of January 28, Pheng Xi went from his home to Huoi Tu commune (Ky Son) to settle a car purchase with a Vietnamese person. The interdisciplinary working group of Ky Son district police discovered and seized 49 synthetic drug pills and 37.5 grams of opium from Pheng Xi.

Pheng Xi said he was addicted and bought drugs to use. For the act of illegally storing drugs, Pheng Xi was sentenced to 2 years in prison by the People's Court of Nghe An province./.
