On June 2, the Criminal Police Department of Son La Police investigated and clarified the explosion that occurred in Bac Yen district, showing signs of a crime of threatening to kill; persuaded the subject Luong Xuan Chuong, (born in 1967, residing in Phieng Ban 1 village, Bac Yen town) to surrender; the seized evidence was a homemade explosive and tools to make the explosive.

At the police station, suspect Chuong confessed that due to a conflict with the family of Mr. Hoang Van Cong, residing in Bac Yen town, because Mr. Cong's nephew owed money but did not pay, Chuong had the idea of using a mine to threaten him.
At around 1am on May 23, Chuong brought a mine to place at the foot of Cong's door and lit the fuse. The explosion damaged part of the victim's door, causing panic among the family and local residents.
Currently, the case is being further investigated by Son La Provincial Police.
