Maradona takes on anti-corruption responsibility at FIFA
World football governing body FIFA has decided to give former football legend Diego Maradona a role in its efforts to bring clarity and transparency to football.
"It's official. I can finally fulfil one of my lifelong dreams: working for a clean and transparent FIFA alongside people who truly love football. Thank you to everyone who encouraged me to accept this challenge," Maradona announced on Facebook on February 10.
Maradona has repeatedly criticized former FIFA President Sepp Blatter and former UEFA President Michel Platini for corruption and lack of transparency in football. Both have since been removed from their positions due to scandals. Blatter was even banned from football administration for eight years.

While some fans congratulated Maradona on his new job, many others expressed their disapproval.doubts about the former player's personal qualities. Maradona had a dark past with many personal troubles: drug use, being found positive for doping at the 1994 World Cup and being given a suspended prison sentence in 1998 for firing an air gun at journalists.
Maradona has only one advantage that fans admire: his football talent at the peak of his career. This former midfielder was once considered one of the best players in the world when he won the 1986 World Cup. Maradona also won Serie A twice and won a UEFA Cup with Napoli.
