Initial investigation results show that Ly Minh Tan drove a motorbike through many streets in Quy Nhon city at night to steal property inside cars parked on the side of the road but forgot to lock the doors. Using this method, in December 2020 and January 2021, Tan committed 10 thefts.

During an urgent search of Tan’s residence, the investigation agency seized many pieces of evidence and related exhibits. It is worth noting that in addition to cash, phones, laptops, etc., Tan also took personal documents and credit cards in the car, then went to an ATM to withdraw money after searching for the password based on the date, month, year of birth or the stolen ID number.
Accordingly, Tan “stolen” the credit cards of 6 out of 10 people whose assets were stolen inside their cars just because the cardholders set their passwords based on their date of birth. Among them, the person who was “stolen” the most, with an amount of 56 million VND, was Ms. Phan Thi Bich T, residing in Thi Nai ward, Quy Nhon city.
