Nghe An Province Fatherland Front listens to the thoughts and aspirations of prestigious people among ethnic minorities

(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of June 22, the Standing Committee of the Fatherland Front Committee of Nghe An province organized a discussion to listen to the voices of prestigious people among ethnic minorities in the province.

Attending the conference were Vice Chairmen of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee: Le Van Ngoc, Tran Thi Thu Huong; representatives of the Provincial Ethnic Committee and 80 delegates who are prestigious and representative of ethnic minorities in the province.

According to statistics, Nghe An province currently has 39 ethnic groups living together, with more than 491,200 people (accounting for 14.76% of the province's population), concentrated in 05 main ethnic groups, including: Thai, Tho, Kho Mu, Mong, O Du. Ethnic minorities in Nghe An province reside in 252 communes/12 districts, towns, 1,339 villages, hamlets on an area of ​​more than 13,700 km2 (accounting for 83% of the province's area).

Over the past years, the Party and the State have had many important policies and guidelines to develop the socio-economy of ethnic minority areas. The Fatherland Front and organizations at all levels have actively coordinated to organize propaganda activities and mobilize ethnic minorities to promote their internal strength, overcome difficulties, respond well to patriotic emulation movements to develop the economy and society, preserve and promote cultural identity...

Thereby, contributing to gradually changing the material and spiritual life of people in mountainous areas in general and ethnic minorities in particular. The above results have a very important role of village elders, prestigious people among ethnic minorities in promoting their exemplary role to propagate and encourage people to unite, compete in labor production, develop the economy, reduce poverty sustainably, and firmly protect the Fatherland's borders.

In particular, in the activities of the Front, prestigious elders always accompany the cadres of the Fatherland Front at all levels, promoting their prestigious role to mobilize villagers to strictly comply with the law, help each other to eliminate hunger and reduce poverty, support the construction of great solidarity houses, and build cultural and civilized villages.

Thanks to that, in 3 years of implementing the Resolution of the Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front at all levels for the 2019-2024 term, people in the province voluntarily donated more than 60,000 m2 of land, contributed more than 3.4 million working days, and supported more than 1,866 billion VND; built 790 km of new rural roads; 259 km of irrigation canals; 2,343 flag routes; 2,520 km of flower roads; 1,417 lighting routes; 13,830 security cameras... to contribute with the Party and State to complete the task of building new rural areas in 9 district-level units and 309/411 commune-level units, 53 communes meeting advanced new rural standards, 6 communes meeting model new rural standards.

Social security activities, support for the "For the Poor" Fund, the Program to support the construction and repair of houses, and support for people in difficulty were carried out very strongly and effectively, with a total budget, goods, and working days of support of more than 1,200 billion VND, thereby promptly supporting the construction and repair of more than 6,300 solidarity houses, supporting livelihood models for over 2,000 poor households, supporting medical treatment for 8,344 cases, supporting 20,572 poor students to go to school and thousands of people affected by natural disasters, epidemics, and frontline forces in the fight against Covid-19.

At the discussion, village elders contributed ideas that are close to the lives of ethnic minorities. Among them, there should be more policies to support ethnic minorities in developing effective economic models; more attention should be paid to policies for propaganda officers in villages and hamlets.

In addition, the issue of granting red books, forest land, production land, overlapping land, clean water, etc. was proposed by village elders and prestigious people to the Front leaders to discuss with provincial agencies to overcome long-standing problems.

The recommendations of the delegates are received, compiled and sent by the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee to competent agencies and units for explanation and clarification according to regulations.
