US Secret Service finds bomb in car near White House

Two Secret Service officials confirmed to CNN: The Secret Service arrested a man driving a car through a White House checkpoint late yesterday, Saturday, March 18, 2017, after confirming there was a bomb in the car he was driving.

There was no confirmation that there were any weapons or toxic substances in the vehicle, but security at the White House was immediately raised to the highest level. Officials said the vehicle was being examined.

The incident occurred at 11:05 (US time) on the night of March 18, 2017.

President Donald Trump was not at the White House at the time of the incident. He was at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida.
