A sudden loss of cabin pressure sent the Jet2 plane into a 45-minute free fall.

A flight from Faro Airport, Portugal to Leeds Bradford, England on August 10 had to make an emergency landing in Bordeaux, southwestern France after encountering a technical problem, according toSun.

The cabin suddenly lost pressure, causing the plane to plummet from an altitude of more than 9,000 meters. Oxygen masks deployed, causing many passengers to suffer nosebleeds and ear injuries.

After the plane landed safely, the injured passengers received medical treatment.

"Thank you Jet2 for landing us safely in Bordeaux. It was a very tense 45 minutes as we descended rapidly and then landed at Bordeaux airport.", passenger Andrew Jackson wrote on Facebook.

"Thankfully all passengers are safe and stable. Some have nosebleeds and ear injuries or stress but we are all grateful."

PA Jet2 spokesperson said a replacement plane had been sent to Bordeaux to take passengers home.

"Flight LS252 from Faro to Leeds Bradford was diverted to Bordeaux Airport on 10 August due to a technical fault.The crew followed standard procedures and controlled the loss of altitude before landing safely. We would like to stress that the safety of all passengers on board is guaranteed," the spokesperson said.

"We would like to apologise to all customers affected. The aircraft remains on the ground and a team of engineers are conducting a thorough investigation into the cause of the incident. The safety of our customers is always our number one priority," a Jet2 representative added.
