British aircraft scrambled to intercept Russian military aircraft approaching NATO airspace
British Air Force jets were scrambled from a base in Romania to intercept Russian Su-30 fighter jets approaching the NATO member state's airspace yesterday, August 22, over the Black Sea.

According to the newspaperThe SunTwo British Royal Air Force Typhoons fighter jets scrambled from Romania to intercept two aircraft believed to be Russian Su-30s near Romanian airspace over the Black Sea.
Russian planes are believed to have taken off from Crimea heading southwest, approaching NATO airspace.
The RAF later said that Typhoons were scrambled to protect Romanian airspace under its commitment to collective defence against all threats.
Russia has not yet commented on the above information.
Earlier, the Royal Air Force said that in the early morning of August 13, it had dispatched Eurofighter Typhoons from a base in Romania to intercept six Russian Su-24 bombers. The statement said that the Russian aircraft had conducted "significant" activities near NATO airspace throughout the night before being intercepted by British aircraft and forced to turn back towards Crimea. However, Russia has denied this information.
