Plane carrying Hezbollah commander in Syria may have been hit by Israeli missile
Israeli fighter jets are believed to have targeted a group of pro-Iranian militia commanders who boarded the aircraft during last night's airstrike in Syria.
An Israeli airstrike on the night of December 25 hit a plane carrying a group of commanders of the Iran-backed Hezbollah militia.NewsWeekToday, citing a source close to the Israeli military from the US Department of Defense, this Hezbollah command group was hit by a missile as they boarded a plane at Damascus airport, the capital of Syria, to prepare to fly to Iran. Their fate is still unknown.

Earlier, Syrian state media reported that Israeli fighter jets launched multiple missiles from Lebanese airspace on the night of December 25 at several targets near the capital Damascus, including a missile depot near Damascus airport.
An Israeli Defense Ministry spokesman declined to comment on the matter. However, an Israeli military source confirmed that one of the targets of the airstrike was a warehouse containing a new batch of Fajr-5 long-range rocket artillery shells that Iran had shipped to Syria to supply Hezbollah.
Hezbollah militia and advisers from Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps are key allies of the Syrian army in its fight against Islamist militant groups in the country. However, Israel accuses Hezbollah of using its Syrian bases to launch attacks on the Israeli-controlled Golan Heights and of regularly carrying out airstrikes on Iranian targets in Syria.
