US strategic bombers join drills on Korean Peninsula
(Baonghean.vn)- Many South Korean defense officials said that two US B-1B long-range strategic bombers participated in drills with South Korean fighter jets in the sky over the Korean Peninsula on June 20 as part of a regular joint exercise.
Speaking to reporters, Lieutenant Kim Sung-duk, in charge of public relations for the Republic of Korea Air Force, said the two B-1B aircraft were expected to fly over the Korean Peninsula for several hours along with two F-15Ks, emphasizing that the two allies regularly conduct such joint air force exercises.

Meanwhile, another source said the B-1Bs will conduct simulated bombing drills at the Pilsung facility in Gangwon Province in the eastern region of South Korea.
The drills took place after Moon Chung-in, a special adviser to South Korean President Moon Jae-in, said Seoul could reduce the deployment of US strategic assets to South Korea and the number of joint military exercises between the two countries if North Korea stops developing nuclear and missile technology. The South Korean presidential office called this Moon Chung-in's personal opinion and not the government's official stance./.
