Russian plane makes emergency landing due to unexpected incident

Russian An-148 passenger plane turns back after an engine catches fire.

The An-148 took off from Talakan airport on September 30, bound for the Siberian city of Irkutsk. Passengers were told there was an “emergency.” Some filmed the plane’s engine on fire.

“I thought I was an atheist, but then I prayed,” one person told the Siberian Times.

"The crew took all necessary actions and landed successfully at the departure airport," said an Angara airline employee.

After returning to the airport, passengers were placed on an alternative flight.The cause of the incident is under investigation.
