Russian military aircraft narrowly avoided colliding with civilian plane.
The Swedish Ministry of Defence confirmed that a Russian military aircraft narrowly avoided colliding with a passenger plane near Swedish airspace.
The passenger plane narrowly avoided colliding with a foreign military aircraft after Swedish military air traffic control reported an "invisible" aircraft moving in the nearby area.

“That was probably a Russian military jet. We identified it through the fighter pilots. The incident is very serious,” Swedish Defense Minister Peter Hultqvist told the TT news agency.
Initial reports suggested the incident occurred in Swedish airspace. However, Minister Hultqvist asserted that this was incorrect. “The incident occurred in international airspace. It was not a violation of airspace.”
The Swedish daily newspaper Dagens Nyheter (DN) reported that the incident occurred around 1 PM (local time) on December 13th. They stated that the military aircraft was flying near southern Sweden. The jet had switched off its transponder, preventing local air traffic control stations from seeing it on their monitors.
A Swedish spokesperson told DN that at least one Russian military aircraft was seen flying in the airspace between the Danish island of Bornholm and the southern Swedish city of Malmo on December 12, around the time the passenger plane nearly collided with an unidentified military aircraft.
Accordingly, the civilian aircraft had just taken off from Kastrup Airport (Denmark) at the exact moment air traffic control personnel spotted this unidentified aircraft.
