Plane crashes in Far East, 15 people killed

RIA Novosti news agency reported that on July 2, a Mil Mi-8 helicopter carrying at least 25 passengers and three crew members crashed while landing in the Republic of Yakutia (Sakha), in Russia's Far East.

The plane, operated by Polyarnye Avialinii Airlines, was on a routine passenger flight when it lost contact with air traffic control. It landed 45km from its departure point, an airfield near the village of Deputatsky.

Two search and rescue aircraft along with medical and emergency personnel were dispatched to the scene of the accident./.
