Vietjet plane lands on wrong runway in Cam Ranh
Instead of landing on runway 1 of Cam Ranh airport (Khanh Hoa), the plane landed on runway 2 which has not been put into operation yet.
Vietjet Air flight number VJ689 took off at 11:14 from Cam Ranh airport (Khanh Hoa) to Ho Chi Minh City. Detecting a technical warning, the plane turned back to the airport and mistakenly landed on an unopened runway, a representative of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam said.
Vietjet Air representative said that all passengers were safe and were arranged to go to the terminal to take the next flight at 4:45 p.m. the same day.

On the afternoon of December 25, Director of the Civil Aviation Authority Dinh Viet Thang will go to Cam Ranh to direct the investigation team. In the immediate future, the Authority will stop increasing flights for Vietjet to re-evaluate the operation and supervision issues, especially with Vietjet at 4 international airports including Noi Bai, Tan Son Nhat, Cam Ranh and Da Nang.
Cam Ranh Airport has two runways. Runway 2, where Vietjet mistakenly landed, has been completed but not yet put into operation. In February, a Vietnam Airlines plane mistakenly landed on this runway.
