Computer predicts Vietnam's chances at Asian Cup
The Opta supercomputer analyzed that Japan has the highest chance of winning the 2023 Asian Cup, while Vietnam's chance of advancing to the round of 16 is 51.4%.
The 2023 Asian Cup is approaching and data company Opta is using supercomputers to predict the chances of winning the tournament for the teams in Qatar.
Results released by Opta show that Japan is the team with the highest chance of winning the Asian football championship.

Japan's odds of winning the title, as predicted by Opta's supercomputer, are 24.6%. This is the odds given after the supercomputer ran 10,000 simulations.
The second candidate for the championship title is South Korea. Opta analyzed that Son Heung Min and his teammates have a 14.3% chance of lifting the trophy.
Based on various data during the simulation of the 2023 Asian Cup, the other candidates are Iran (11.2%), Australia (10.7%), and Saudi Arabia (10.6%), respectively.
Host Qatar, also the reigning Asian Cup champion, ranked 6th with 9.8%.
The Vietnamese team ranked 17th according to supercomputer predictions, with a 0.5% chance of winning.

Vietnam is also the Southeast Asian representative with the highest rate, followed by Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia respectively.
The chance for coach Philippe Troussier and his team to enter the knockout round is rated at 51.4%.
Meanwhile, the rate of Vietnam team repeating the achievement of reaching the quarterfinals like Asian Cup 2019 is 17.4%.
Vietnam's chance of reaching the semi-finals is 6.5%. Other Southeast Asian teams behind are Thailand (6%), Malaysia (3.8%) and Indonesia (3.6%) respectively.
Opta also predicted Japan's performance in the Asian Cup. Accordingly, Japan's odds of winning Group D are (72.9%). They are the team with the highest chance of reaching the semi-finals, up to 52.8%, far surpassing the next opponent, South Korea (39.9%)./.
