Mazda CX-8 - New 3-row SUV coming soon

The Mazda CX-5's senior product is equipped with a 2.2-liter Skyactiv engine, available on the market in late 2017.

The presence of the 7-seat Honda CR-V is an important call for Mazda to add to its SUV product portfolio. But unlike its compatriot rival who kept the same name, Mazda launched the new product with the name CX-8.

The Japanese automaker has not released exterior images of the CX-8, while focusing on emphasizing what is inside the new model. The leather seats hug the occupants, the steering wheel design and the gearshift position are almost similar to Mazda products.

Mazda said the CX-8 still inherits the Kodo design language on the exterior.The new SUV is 4,900 mm long, 1,840 mm wide, 1,730 mm high, and has a wheelbase of 2,930 mm. These parameters are equivalent to the CX-5 in terms of width, while being slightly longer and taller.

Mazda CX-8 is equipped with a 2.2-liter inline 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine. 6-speed automatic transmission. No specific information about the gasoline version yet.

According to plan, the 3-row SUV with 6 or 7-seat configuration will be sold in the Japanese market in late 2017. Price has not been disclosed.
