Mazda CX-9 priced at 56,000 USD - a choice for customers who are bored with Toyota Fortuner
The new generation SUV model was launched to Indonesian customers and became the most premium model in Mazda's product line.
First appearing at the Los Angeles Auto Show (USA) in 2015, three years later the new generation of Mazda's flagship SUV has arrived in one of the largest markets in Southeast Asia. The CX-9's appearance is characterized by the new design language Kodo: Soul of Motion.

The 7-seat SUV has increased in size, with a 55 mm longer wheelbase than the current generation, creating more interior space, especially for the rear seats, while also making it easier to get in and out of the car.
The biggest change is probably in the engine compartment: the 3.5-liter V6 engine is replaced by a 2.5-liter SkyActiv turbocharged engine. The new engine increases performance and saves more fuel. The CX-9 has a capacity of 228 horsepower at 5,000 rpm and a pulling force of 420 Nm at 2,000 rpm. 6-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive.
The safety system on the new generation CX-9 applies Mazda's latest technologies, with blind spot warning, radar cruise control, Start/Stop, lane keeping assist, lane departure warning, anti-glare headlights, and automatic emergency braking.

The interior highlights include the MZD Connect infotainment system with an 8-inch touchscreen and a 12-speaker sound system. The CX-9 also features a full-color head-up display (HUD).
The CX-9 targets customers who are "bored" with the Toyota Fortuner or Mitsubishi Pajero Sport and want to upgrade to a larger car, according to Roy Arman Arfandy, president of Eurokars Motor Indonesia (EMI), Mazda's distributor in Indonesia. In this market, the highest-end version of the Pajero Sport has a suggested price of 46,000 USD while the full-size Fortuner is also around 46,000 USD, both much lower than the starting price of the new generation CX-9, according toDapurpacu.

The new generation CX-9 was introduced to Vietnamese customers in October 2016, at the Vietnam Motor Show 2016 and the time of sale in Vietnam is unknown. The CX-9 is manufactured in Japan but is not sold in the domestic market. The SUV model has been mainly consumed in North America and Australia since 2007.
